Tulsi (pronounced tool-see) is a member of the mint family (Occimum sanctum) native to southern Asia. It is also known as holy basil, but don’t confuse it with the basil used in Italian and Thai cuisine. Since ancient times, the people of the Indian subcontinent have held this plant to be sacred. Tulsi is a central component of the Ayurvedic medicinal system, revered for its soothing, adaptogenic qualities.

Our Tulsi Source
We proudly source our tulsi from small organic farms in southern India.
Our tulsi tea is actually a blend of three varieties of tulsi, making it TRI-DOSHIC. In Ayurveda (traditional Indian medicine), there are three components to the human metabolism. These components are similar to the elements in classical Greek medicine. In Ayurveda, they are called Doshas.
The doshas are: Vana (wind), Pitta (fire), and Kapha (earth). Maintaining a good balance of the three doshas is believed to lead to overall good health and wellbeing. There are also three varieties of tulsi, and each one is considered specifically helpful for each dosha. Vana tulsi supports Vana, Krishna tulsi supports Pitta, and Rama tulsi supports Kapha.
A "tri-doshic" blend of the three tulsi varieties, such as the one we provide, is the best choice for maintaining overall well-being.
